Combat Boots

Hello all. I don't know what it is about combat boots that I love so much, the comfort, style, the idea that I feel like I can stomp on my problems and take on the world? Whatever it is, I love them. I appreciate understated looks that are effortless, chic and comfortable. These Steve Madden Troopers are my FAVORITE boots and I swear, they pull pretty much any look together.

Topknot and Cute Shoes

I am so proud of myself! I did a bun today! I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but, I am veeerrrry low maintenance with my hair. It's either a pony tail at the nape of my neck or a pony tail slightly higher.

Lately, it's been side swept bangs and tousled loose locks (which NEVER happens), and today this big bun! (New Year, new hair, perhaps?) Trust me, it took quite a bit of maneuvering to get my hair up there, I have a lot of hair, but, I did it and actually liked it. Actually, if I'm to be quite honest, I have to wear my hair up when I wear this sweater, because it's fuzzy and the fuzz gets into my locs and it's a hassle to pick it out of the strands.

Cute bun and even cuter shoes, I was strutting today! Two pairs of shoes today, running around chasing after kids on wedges all day, takes a toll on the feet. A pair of combat boots remedied that problem after 8 hours. A girl's gotta be comfy too!

Diva Moments

I LOVE to be warm, and this fuzzy, pink Lacoste sweater that I found at a thrift store, provides just that! It's so cute! Soft muted color and co-ed style. I kind of felt like I was back in college...in the 1960's. Also, I felt very diva like, hair was out and flowing and not in my usual pulled back style, eye make-up and pouty lips, Diana Ross anyone?

My hair is DOING IT today!! Sultry gaze, pouty lips...ready!

Reflections

Hello Lovelies.

I did not post about fashion last night, due to attending a wake for a friend's grandmother.  We know death is inevitable, but, that knowledge does not ease the sharpness of the pain. It hurts so much to lose someone you love so dearly.  Watching my friend and her family ache and mourn over their loss was terribly heartwrenching and their raw grief transported me back in time to my loss.

My family and I went through this pain 4.5 years ago. Losing my grandmother hurt like crazy, and to be honest, it still hurts. No one can say or has the right to say when the grieving process will end, it gets easier with time, but, I don't think it ever quite goes away. The outward sorrow that people see may fade, but, the inner ache remains for quite some time.

Losing someone you love is gut wrenching, but, after the pain eases a bit, hopefully it will inspire you to do right by that person and make a positive impact in this grind we call life. Somehow, make them proud daily, by being kind, generous, loving, caring, or achieving some hard sought after goal.

Whatever, the case may be, use the love you felt for them as fuel to propel you to a better future for yourself and others.  You may fall, trip and stumble along the way, but, try to leave a positive imprint on someone's life. Plant seeds of love daily.

Rainbow Brite

Well hello, hello! I'm back and refreshed. I haven't blogged in quite some time, work got really busy before the Christmas season, deadlines and projects had to be met before going on vacation so...no blogging. Boo Hiss! I missed posting daily or nightly, it felt good.

Now I'm back, to blogging and work. Today was FRIGID in Boston, 19 degrees! At one point in the day it dropped to 9! Seriously! The sun was out, but, man was it cold! I needed a huge pick-me-up for the day. Not only was it freeeeezing out, but, I was back at work wishing I wasn't. Lol.

Rainbow Brite

I needed warmth and color in my life today, so I opted to dress like one of my favorite childhood dolls...Rainbow Brite! Loved her and loved all the beautiful colors. They just brighten the day, ya know? (pun intended) And since I couldn't be somewhere warm and bright, I just imagined Starlite (Rainbow Brite's horse) whisking me away to a warm island where I didn't have to be at work. Sigh.
