Cape Cod Pink

I miss summer. Today it was about 27 degrees. Awful! I am a summer baby, born on an island, in the month of July. Heat is literally flowing like lava through my blood. I know winter is on its way (if not already here), but, I can't let go of my warm weather clothing. Come to think of it, I never do, I just layer up and make summer knits work in the cold winter months.

Here's an example, my sweater is a light-weight knit made for the spring/summer months, made to be worn with shorts, or over a maxi skirt and sandals on a cooler summer night. I chose to wear my sweater today as an homage to summer and paired them with reddish/pinkish jeans and black ankle boots. The preppy sweater and jean color reminded me of Cape Cod or Nantucket( for you Bostonians).  Loved it on Nantucket this summer.

There is a color called, "Cape Cod Pink", worn with sailor stripes or  Ralph Lauren shirts and navy blue blazers. "Cape Cod Pink" (to me), is not really pink, but, rather a faded red (like my jeans). Sometimes, people literally just wear the color pink with the navy stripes. Here's a great example I found below.

This is Preppy Pink Love or @preppypinklove, her outfit is lovely.

Here's my take. While my style is not preppy or conservative, the color palette and light-weight fabrics
reminded me of my time on Nantucket this past summer and that "preppy look".  I winterized the getup by layering with heavier jeans and boots. Had it been July, short shorts baby!

Pop!

I love unexpected pops of color. Scarves, shoes, a blazer or tights are a great way to add that element to liven up an outfit.  How do you pop?

Weekend Comfort

Like most people, I look forward to the weekend. Sleeping in (not the case this weekend....boo), being lazy, catching up with family and friends, being comfortable. This was my weekend outfit...on repeat. Same outfit, different people on each day, not a problem! Now, I know I am not the only one guilty of this ;)  Again, weekend comfort. (Sorry for the crazy red-eye)

The Southwest

Today was a low-key outfit day, with hint of a surprise. Yesterday I posted the Navajo pattern sweater that I love so much, today I continue with some basics (with a twist ;) .
I think pretty much everyone has some sort of jean shirt at the moment, whether it be an ombre, dark jean, light jean, patterned, etc., the jean shirt (I think) is a nice basic in any closet. Throw it on over black pants (as seen below), leggings, colored denim, a skirt (maxi or tea length) it just looks great. Keep it simple, or layer it and I think you have a winning ensemble every time.

Here is my surprise....this vintage jacket!! I found this beauty at the Goodwill. It was hanging behind the register and I wanted it immediately. A gentleman in front of me asked to see it and my stomach dropped. He examined it and had a pow wow with his wife about it, she didn't seem interested, so he  gave it back to the cashier. That's when I swooped in and took this baby home! It is several sizes too big for me, (men's L) but, looks so good on anyway. It has a nice shape and structure to it, so I don't think it looks like it's swallowing me. Oversized tops are not that big of a deal. What do you think?

Great Pattern

The pattern on this sweater is sweet, the contrasting colors are beautiful. The shawl collar is modern. This is a vintage Navajo pattern sweater, perfect vintage, I reiterate, so beautiful. I've noticed a multitude of Navajo pattern sweaters, shoes, socks, dresses etc. as of late, definitely a trend right now. I found a few items that I wanted, but, they're not in my price range. Scored this sweater on eBay and I couldn't be happier!

These are one of the BRILLIANT pairs of boots I scored this past weekend
(Weekend Roundup post). They are sleek, can be paired with anything and
best of all comfortable! They were already broken in for me so no reason to
put them through the wringer to soften up the leather. Thanks previous owner!

SHINY

"It's just another manic Monday! I wish it were Sunday!" The Bangles had it right, I wish it were        Sunday alright. Weekend over and back to work. Blah. I needed a bit of shiny to get me through the day. The necklace was a big pick me up, added a bit of glamour to the ensemble.

Ecote Kylie Studded Boot
Got these in the mail Saturday! Ordered them from Urban Outfitters. I ADORE the Chloe Susanna boot, but, waaay out of my budget. These Ecote Kylie Studded Boots are the Business! Cute, stylish and a fraction of the cost. My kind of fashion ;)
